GenX Exposure Study
Welcome to the
GenX Exposure Study
The GenX Exposure Study is measuring GenX and other PFAS exposure in people living near the Cape Fear River Basin, North Carolina – the drinking water source for numerous North Carolina communities. We aim to understand current exposure and potential health effects to help answer questions for North Carolina residents.
We continue to work with other researchers to better understand PFAS and their effects. Science is a process and takes time, and we look forward to sharing our work with you.
2023 Blood PFAS Results
Personal PFAS Results from blood samples collected in Fall 2023 were sent out by mail over spring 2024. Community PFAS results from the same 2023 sample were mailed over the last week of July 2024. If you have not received one or both of your letters, please contact us. We will discuss the results found in the letter at a virtual community webinar. Each of the three communities involved in the study will have their own dedicated, in-person meeting to discuss results specific to their sampling. Details for each will be announced as they become available.
